Tata Sky Contests: Tata Sky Twist and Shout with Disney channel contest

Tata Sky Twist and Shout with Disney Channel contest is a contest offered on the Tata Sky DTH where you could win Disney merchandise or prizes sponsored by Disney. This contest is open only to Tata Sky subscribers. They can participate in the contest by pressing, either: (i) the interactive red button application on Disney channel or (ii) the interactive red button application on Jetix channel on the Tata Sky platform.

This contest is open to those subscribers who have subscribed to the Fun Learning pack or the Mega pack. This contest will feature one question weekly which needs to be answered. A winner will be selected weekly among a list of correct entries who shall win Disney merchandise as a prize. This contest is on till 1^st November 2009.

Tata Sky ads: The new Aamir Khan and Gul Panag Tata Sky Ads

Tata Sky has introduced two new ads of Tata Sky featuring Aamir Khan and Gul Panag. Both there ads have the trademark Aamir Khan – Gul Panag ad humor in them. In the first ad, Aamir Khan , Gul Panag and a little girl (presumably their daughter) appear to be sitting around a table and having their dinner. Aamir Khan looks naughtily towards the camera and remarks that “family dinners” are supposed to be had with your family and not in front of a television set. He then states that the TV program is being recorded on Tata Sky Plus. What I really like about this ad is the social message it carries, that a family needs to have dinner together where they can bond and converse. Unfortunately, in most nuclear families, parents come home in the evening and then everyone eats in front of the TV with little or not social conversation. This ad brings out the helpfulness of Tata Sky+ in bonding the family better.

The second ad really distinguishes itself by the use of situational comedy. The ad opens by Aamir Khan speaking in the mirror about how when there is a good movie on, the wife always wants to go out for a Chinese dinner. He claims that he is not missing the movie as it is getting recorded on Tata Sky+. But then Gul appears thereby resulting in a funny misunderstanding. The ad is very well conceptualized and shot.

Tata Sky Channels: IBN Lokmat on Tata Sky DTH

Tata Sky DTH has something to offer for viewer of every language. In keeping with their commitments to add value and enhance the viewing experience of every regional language user, Tata Sky DTH has added new channel Marathi. As a treat for Marathi language users, it has added IBN LOKMAT news channel. A part of the TV 18 group, it features hard hitting news and award winning news with perspectives from heartlands of Maharashtra as well as rest of the country, headed by veteran journalist Mr. Nikhil Wagle and his team. Tata Sky Movies: International award winning movies on Tata Sky DTH

I am a total movie buff, but I like movies which are deep and with perspectives. We, in India, think that Hollywood and Bollywood make up the whole movie making world but it is actually not so. There is some great cinema made across world in Greece, Mexico, China, Korea, Egypt and even Iran. Sadly, the world cinema has eluded movie lovers in India for long except at an odd international film festival.

Thanks to Tata Sky, we now have channels like NDTV Luminere and UTV World Movies which brings world class contemporary cinema from across the globe right into our drawing rooms. Last Saturday, I saw an excellent Egyptian movie on NDTV Lumiere as a part of their Cannes Award Winning film series. The movie is called “Heya Fawda” which means “This Chaos” by an award winning Egyptian director Youssef Chahine. The film is a social critique on the corrupt Egyptian state and how a small town policeman Hatem becomes a law onto himself. The story is about how his neighbor, the beautiful school teacher named Nour and an upright lawyer named Sherif outwit this evil cop and bring him to justice. I absolutely loved the movie and would recommend it to you.
