In the fast moving DTH sector, Tata Sky is slowly emerging as the market leader. In a short period of seven months, it has added a million customers thereby reaching a subscriber base of more than 4 million.
In an interview, Mr. Vikram Kaushik, the managing director and CEO of Tata Sky said and I quote “Tata Sky has achieved significant success in reaching four million connections in such a short time, and in a highly competitive market. This milestone validates Tata Sky as the preferred service provider in the rapidly growing Indian pay-TV market.”
Tata Sky reached one million connections in a period of 11 months and it got introduced in August 2006. Adding, then the DTH service provider took nine more months to get to the two million connections mark, signifying how speedy the Indian pay-TV market is developing. The fact that Tata Sky is growing at a fast pace is a validation that increasing number of people are appreciating Tata Sky’s product and service. I see this rate of growth increasing even further.
